For the second time in less than a month, Tanner Tessmann made a major impact for Venezia, scoring a goal and setting up another - again.
Taylor Booth tallied his first goal of the team season for Utrecht, in a cup match, and Weston McKennie and Haji Wright recorded assists for their respective teams, Juventus and Coventry.
They were among last week's highlights for the members of the U.S. Men's National Team pool.
ONE OF EACH, AGAIN
Tanner Tessmann enjoyed a big second half and a man of the match performance for Venezia in its 2-2 home draw with Lecco in Italian Serie B action on Saturday, Dec. 23. In fact, the 22-year-old midfielder performed his heroics during a three-minute span. Tessmann set up Dennis Johnsen's equalizing score in the 57th minute before connecting on the hour past goalkeeper Riccardo Melgrati for a 2-1 edge. Lecco knotted things up in the 71st minute. In a 3-0 win at Bari on Nov. 25, Tessman also recorded a goal and an assist. He has accrued four goals and three assists this season for second-place Venezia (10-4-4, 34 points), which trails Parma (11-2-5, 38) by four points.

A TAYLOR MADE GOAL
Taylor Booth scored his first goal of the season for Utrecht in its 2-1 defeat at Feyenoord in the KNVB Beker on Wednesday, Dec. 20. After Souffian El Karouani beat two defenders on the left flank, he sent in a cross that Booth buried from point-blank range to cut the deficit in half in the 41st minute. Booth has yet to find the net for Utrecht in eight appearances in Dutch Eredivisie action this season.

NEVER SAY DIE
Only minutes after coming close to scoring the winning goal for Juventus, Weston McKennie set up the game-winner in a 2-1 triumph at Frosinone in an Italian Serie A match on Saturday, Dec. 23. McKennie almost snapped a 1-1 deadlock when he rocketed a shot off the crossbar in the 74th minute. Only four minutes later, the 25-year-old midfielder turned playmaker, sending a right-wing cross to Dusan Vlahovic, who headed the ball past keeper Stefano Turati in the 80th minute. It was his second assist this season. Juve (12-1-4, 40), with Tim Weah and McKennie, is in second place, trailing Inter (14-1-2, 44) by four points. AC Milan (10-4-3, 33), which includes Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah, is in third.

SOME INSURANCE
Haji Wright set up an insurance goal for Coventry City in its 3-0 victory at Sunderland in the English Championship on Saturday, Dec. 23. The 25-year-old forward penetrated deep into the left side of the box before playing a pass back to Callum O'Hare. O'Hare then drilled a shot past goalie Anthony Patterson for a two-goal advantage in the 67th minute. Wright, who has scored six this campaign, recorded his second assist. Coventry City (7-7-9, 31) sits in 15th place among 24 teams in the Championship table.
